ഗുവാഹാത്തി: ഐഎസ്എല്ലിന്റെ അഞ്ചാം സീസണിലെ മൂന്നാമത്തെ മല്സരത്തില് മുന് റണ്ണറപ്പായ എഫ്സി ഗോവയും നോര്ത്ത് ഈസ്റ്റ് യുനൈറ്റഡും സമനില സമ്മതിച്ചു പിരിഞ്ഞു. നോര്ത്ത്ഈസ്റ്റിന്റെ മൈതാനത്തു നടന്ന അത്യധികം ആവേശകരമായ പോരാട്ടത്തില് ഇരുടീമും രണ്ടു ഗോള് വീതം നേടി പോയിന്റ് പങ്കുവയ്ക്കുകയായിരുന്നു. ഈ സീസണിലെ ഐഎസ്എല്ലിലെ ആദ്യത്തെ സമനില കൂടിയാണിത്.
ഗോവയുടെ രണ്ടു ഗോളും ഫെറാന് കൊറോമിനോസിന്റെ വകയായിരുന്നു. 14, 38 മിനിറ്റുകളിലാണ് താരം വലകുലുക്കിയത്. ഫെഡറിക്കോ ഗല്ലേഗോ (എട്ടാം മിനിറ്റ്), ബര്ത്തോലോമെ ഒഗ്ബെച്ചെ (53) എന്നിവര് നോര്ത്ത് ഈസ്റ്റിന്റെ ഗോളുകള് മടക്കി. മല്സരം തുടങ്ങി എട്ടാം മിനിറ്റില് തന്നെ ഗോളിക്കു പറ്റിയ വന് പിഴവ് മുതലെടുത്ത് നോര്ത്ത് ഈസ്റ്റ് അക്കൗണ്ട് തുറന്നിരുന്നു. ബോക്സിനു പുറത്തേക്ക് ഇറങ്ങി ഗോവന് ഗോളി മുഹമ്മദ് നവാസ് പന്ത് പിടിച്ചെടുത്ത് തിരിച്ചെറിഞ്ഞപ്പോള് ഗല്ലേഗോ ഒഴിഞ്ഞ വലയിലേക്കു ഷോട്ട് പായിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
14ാാം മിനിറ്റില് കോറോയിലൂടെ ഗോവ തിരിച്ചടിച്ചു. മികച്ചൊരു നീക്കത്തിനൊടുവില് ജാക്കിച്ചാന്ദ് സിങ് വലതു മൂലയില് നിന്നും ബോക്സിനുള്ളിലേക്ക് ചെത്തിയിട്ട ക്രോസ് മാര്ക്ക് ചെയ്യപ്പെടാതെ നിന്ന കോറോയ്ക്ക് പന്ത് വലയിലേക്കു തട്ടിയിടേണ്ട ചുമതല മാത്രമേ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നുള്ളൂ. 39ാം മിനിറ്റിലാണ് കോറോ ഗോവയുടെ രണ്ടാം ഗോള് നേടിയത്. ബോക്സിന് തൊട്ടരികില് വച്ചു ലഭിച്ച പന്ത് മൂന്ന് നോര്ത്ത്ഈസ്റ്റ് താരങ്ങളെ വെട്ടിയൊഴിഞ്ഞ് കോറോ വലയിലേക്ക് തൊടുത്തപ്പോള് മലയാഴി ഗോളി ടിപി രഹനേഷ് നിസ്സഹായനായിരുന്നു.
രണ്ടാംപകുതിയിലും ഇരുടീമും ഇഞ്ചോടിഞ്ച് പോരാട്ടമാണ് നടത്തിയത്. 53ാം മിനിറ്റില് ക്യാപ്റ്റന് ഒഗ്ബെച്ചെയിലൂടെ നോര്ത്ത്ഈസ്റ്റ് അര്ഹിച്ച സമനില പിടിച്ചുവാങ്ങുകയായിരുന്നു. കീഗന് പെരേര ബോക്സിനു കുറുകെ അളന്നു മുറിച്ചു നല്കിയ ക്രോസ് ക്ലോസ് റേഞ്ച് ഹെഡ്ഡറിലൂടെയാണ് അദ്ദേഹം വലയ്ക്കുള്ളിലാക്കിയത്.

Lobera aims for first win over NorthEast
Guwahati, September 30: For four successive years, NorthEast United FC have tried but failed to win a place in the play-offs of the Hero Indian Super League. They’ve come close twice, and as the fifth edition of the ISL kicks off, the Highlanders will be keen to kickstart on a positive note when they face FC Goa at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati, on Monday.
It will not be easy for NorthEast United. FC Goa have a measure of continuity about them as head coach Sergio Lobera takes charge of the team for a second successive season, while the hosts will be playing under Eelco Schattorie who has been handed the reins. The Dutch coach had come in as an assistant coach last season after the departure of Joao de Deus.
They now sport a completely different look with former PSG striker Bartholomew Ogbeche being their most notable signing. The Nigerian international is expected to be their main threat upfront and will look to improve their efficiency in front of goal.
Croatian duo of Mato Grgic and Mislav Komorski will marshal the defence with Rowllin Borges playing the anchor role in midfield.
“Last season I had the chance to play twice against Goa and in both games we got results - one win and one draw. They were both based on certain weaknesses that we spotted in their team. Hopefully, we can exploit them again. Having said that, we must remember that we have got a relatively new squad who will take time to get used to my methods whereas Goa have a more or less settled squad,” said Schattorie.
Last season’s fixtures between the teams were encouraging for NorthEast. They managed to get the better of Goa 2-1 when the teams faced each other in Guwahati, and in the reverse fixture, Schattorie’s team managed to salvage a 2-2 draw.
FC Goa, on the other hand, have a settled feel about them with most of their key players retained from last season. Last year’s topscorer Ferran Corominas will be the main man upfront and will be supported by Miguel Palanca and Hugo Boumous.
Ahmed Jahouh will be the anchor man in midfield while Lenny Rodrigues and company look to complement the Moroccan.
Goa’s defence had come under the scanner previous season and was their Achilles’ heel. A prolific attack bailed them out on many occasions but Lobera will be keen to ensure they are more solid at the back this time around, without compromising on their attacking instinct.
“We will definitely work on our defending this season. It is true that in order to improve on the defensive part of the team, we have to limit our attacking abilities slightly. But having the team we had last season, we broke so many scoring records. We have a team which is built to be offensive. I always prefer to win a match 5-2 than 1-0,” said Lobera.
FC Goa, as is their nature, will play a possession-based game and NorthEast United will look to exploit them on the counter. But how effective that will be remains to be seen. Monday promises to be exciting and intriguing.

NEUFC, FC Goa share spoils in exciting draw
Guwahati, October 1: In an open-ended Hero Indian Super League (ISL) clash at the Indira Gandhi Athletic stadium, Guwahati which saw chances galore for either side, NorthEast United FC and FC Goa played out an entertaining 2-2 draw.
Ferran Corominas (14’, 38’) bagged both goals for the visitors while Federico Gallego (8’) and Bartholomew Ogbeche (53’) were the scorers for the hosts.
After a stop-start first few minutes, the hosts were gifted a goal after a terrible error from 18-year-old Mohammad Nawaz, handed an ISL debut. The Goa custodian charged out of his box and handled the ball in the belief that Bartholomew Ogbeche was offside. However, no such whistle was blown by the referee who instead awarded the free-kick to NorthEast United for a handball. With Nawaz yards outside the box, Federico Gallego showed some quick thinking to chip the dead ball into the empty net, much to the horror of Nawaz.
Having profited from Nawaz’s error to take the lead, the hosts relinquished it minutes later after an error by their own goalkeeper, TP Rehenesh. The NorthEast custodian failed to collect a floated cross from Jackichand Singh and Spanish sharpshooter Ferran Corominas was on hand to bundle the ball into the net.
The visitors gained a foothold in the match after the equalizer and came close to taking the lead twice through Jackichand but the winger’s first attempt was deflected away for a corner, while the second just bounced over the bar.
Goa had their deserved lead in the 39th minute with Corominas bagging his second of the night. A midfield scramble saw Hugo Bomous release the Spaniard in the box and the prolific striker did well to evade two tackles with body feints before beating Rehenesh at his near post with a perfectly placed shot.
In the second half, the Highlanders did not have to wait too long get their second goal with Ogbeche getting off the mark with a thumping header. The NorthEast forward’s header after a perfect cross from Keegan Pereira gave Nawaz no chance as 18000 home fans roared in delight.
The hosts had two gilt-edged chances to take the lead around the 65th minute when Nikhil Kadam beat his man to come one-on-one with the Goa custodian. The winger attempted to curl the ball into the right-hand corner of the goal but Nawaz pulled off an excellent dive to deny him. From the resulting corner, Grgic had the goal at his mercy but the central defender directed his header wide.
Minutes later, Boumous made a darting run into the hosts’ box after being released by Carlos Pena. The Goa midfielder had done well to beat his markers and was poised to take a shot with only Rehenesh to beat but a last-ditch tackle by Leudo averted the danger.
The end-to-end action continued till the final whistle with the teams sharing the spoils
